Dr. M. Hildon Guy | Chief Instructor, Copacetic Defense Training
Copacetic Defense Training is led by its Chief Instructor, Dr. M. Hildon Guy, whose background in defense spans decades and disciplines. A United States Air Force veteran, Dr. Guy holds certifications with the National Rifle Association as both a handgun instructor and a range safety officer, and he is certified by the Alaska Department of Public Safety to teach the state's concealed carry courses. Beyond firearms, he is a certified martial arts instructor with black belts in three systems: Shotokan Karate, Shokenryu Karate, and Bojutsu. That combination of armed and unarmed expertise is rare, and it means students learn self-defense as a complete picture rather than a single skill.
What students remember most, though, is how he teaches. Reviewers describe Dr. Guy as a soft-spoken professional who puts complete beginners at ease while keeping seasoned shooters engaged, adapting to every type of learner in the room. He brings vast experience in public speaking and years of work on a live range, and he holds himself to the same standard he asks of his students: continual improvement. Since 2010, he has helped people across Alaska, Idaho, and Missouri become safer, more confident, and more prepared, one class at a time.
